Natsource Japan, established in May 2001, is a joint venture of Natsource LLC, Tokyo Tanshi, and Mitsubishi Corporation and, in addition to Natsource’s global partner Tullett & Tokyo Liberty, counts among its shareholders such distinguished companies as Toyota Tsusho, Sumitomo Corporation, Tokyo Gas and Osaka Gas. Natsource Japan plays a central role in Natsource’s global marketing strategy. With 10 employees currently located in Tokyo, Natsource Japan’s broking and consulting business offers services that cover the emissions, electricity, and weather derivatives marketplaces.

Key Personnel
Max Katagiri currently serves as President & CEO of Natsource Japan Co., Ltd. He directs all of Natsource’s Asian business activities. He joined Mitsubishi Corporation in 1976, and served in several international positions and coordinated regional activities. Most recently, for Mitsubishi, Mr. Katagiri served as General Manager in West & Central Africa, where he had significant accomplishments in the fields of environment, education, medicals and telecommunications. He also is President of Green Diamond Inc. a corporation registered in the State of Delaware, and also served on the World Bank’s Prototype Carbon Fund’s (PCF’s) Participants Committee.
Hiroshi Tokuda is a Senior Manager-Planning and Unit Manager of Natsource Japan Co., Ltd in Tokyo. He worked for Mitsubishi Corporation from 1974 to 2000, and was a Director and Chief Operating Officer of Taisei Chemical Industries and a Project Coordinator for an NPO called ABIC (Action for a Better International Community) before joining Natsource.
As a Senior Manager-Planning at Natsource Japan’s Tokyo office, Hiroshi is responsible for business planning, and also directs the company’s Advisory Services Unit, which provides advisory and research services to companies and governments on international greenhouse gas related matters. He also provides assistance with contracts and other legal matters for the company. His expertise includes international business laws country, risk management and corporate finance. Hiroshi holds an LL.M degree from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Law from Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo. He speaks Japanese and English.
Itsuho Haruta is an Operating Officer and Unit Manager of Natsource Japan Co., Ltd in Tokyo. Prior to joining Natsource he was Associate Director of Tullett & Tokyo, Degani Pte Ltd in Singapore (January 1999 – September 2000), and from 1985 – 1999 he was Manager of Tokyo Forex Co., Ltd. where he brokered financial transactions.
As an Operating Officer of Natsource in Tokyo office, Itsuho directs the company’s Transaction Services Unit which arranges transactions of Renewable Certificates, Weather Derivatives and Electricity. He also provides support to companies and governments on international greenhouse gas policy and assists in the development of commodity trading strategies. He is currently involved in Natsource’s Greenhouse Gas-Credit Aggregation Pool (GG-CAP) which is the world’s first entirely owned private sector mechanism designed to assist Buyers meet European Union Emissions Trading System and Kyoto Protocol requirements to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. It provides Buyers with cost effective “compliance ready” instruments He was engaged in the Japan Emissions Management Simulation (JEMS) which was implemented as an advanced greenhouse gas emissions simulation with over 30 private Japanese entities in 2001 and 2002. Itsuho holds a Bachelor of Law from Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto. He speaks Japanese and English.
