| The Natsource Advantage
As a leading broker of energy related products, Natsource participates in the power, natural gas, coal, SO2, NOx, weather hedging and GHG markets. We have taken a leading role in developing emerging markets to serve our client base, which includes over 800 global companies who are leaders in the utility, coal, oil, and natural gas markets, and the investment banking community. As a result of the expanding NOx, Weather Hedging, and GHG markets, our client base outside of the energy sector is rapidly expanding. This broad range of participants enables us to execute trades in the most efficient and effective manner possible.
Natsource is the highest volume broker of US emissions allowances with over 7,000,000 tons of SO2 emission allowances transacted representing over $1,500,000,000 in underlying value. We are also the first brokers of weather derivatives and coal derivatives.
In light of our position in related markets, Natsource has access to information affecting Greenhouse Gas Emissions such as power prices, NOx and SO2 market trends, and new source development. We use the information that we have in constructive and innovative ways to enhance our service in all of our markets.
Natsource devotes considerable resources and efforts to developing the GHG market. Having brokered some of the earliest GHG transactions, we are now working very closely with clients to develop creative transaction structures that reduce risk and maximize opportunity. In the GHG market Natsource is pioneering approaches to options, swaps, insurance and portfolio management that allow clients to manage their GHG exposure in the most cost effective manner.
We also recognize that there is more to building the GHG market than closing transactions. Natsource is therefore active in providing advice and input to the ongoing legislative processes that are designing domestic and international trading programs. Natsource has provided expert opinions to the White House Climate Change Task Force and United Nations Framework Conventions on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Workshops, and is a member of the Center for Clean Air Policys Greenhouse Braintrust Workgroup.
Natsource also provides consultancy services on GHG market issues to clients. |
