aribas@natsource.caAline Ribas, Director of Project Services (Ottawa), overviews delivery risk assessments of emission reduction projects and analyses of their portfolio effect according to buyers' profiles. She has played a major role in the development of Natsource's proprietary Delivery Risk Model, which is a key tool used by Natsource to evaluate emission reduction projects and portfolios for the Greenhouse Gas Aggregation Pool and other buyers to help them manage their GHG reduction obligations in a cost-effective manner. Ms. Ribas has been involved in the preparation and evaluation of a number of emission reduction project documents. Her experience with climate change also includes CDM market identification, climate change policy and GHG market developments. She has recently co-authored a study for a major international institution on the potential for projects using carbon capture and sequestration technologies to participate in the CDM. She also prepared a detailed climate change profile for Canada, which addressed GHG performance, policy development, GHG market formation, and incentives, and funding for technology and energy transformation.
Prior to joining GCSI-Natsource, she served as Deals Desk Manager and as Project Manager at Trafigura, where she was responsible for mark-to-market positions, P&L controls, among other commercial and financial aspects of transactions involving major companies in Latin America and in the United States in the fields of oil and non-ferrous metals. Her areas of research under previous activities have included CDM project eligibility assessments for projects involving the use of renewable energy sources in Brazil. She has a BA degree in Economics and an MSc in Energy Planning with emphasis in climate change from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Ms. Ribas is fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, and also speaks French and German.
