Advisory and Research Services

Natsource Advisory and Research Services professionals helped create many of the trading systems designed to reduce conventional and greenhouse gas pollution and the emission reduction credits used in these markets. Natsource leverages this expertise to: (1) evaluate greenhouse gas reduction and renewable energy project opportunities for Natsource Asset Management; (2) estimate the value of the commodities created by these projects; (3) assist asset managers and private firms in assessing the effects of new environmental regulations on their businesses and develop strategies to minimize costs and seize opportunities; (4) provide information on pricing, and supply and demand dynamics in the markets; and (5) advise in the design of trading programs.

Climate Policy Expertise and Trading System Design
Natsource Advisory and Research staff is engaged in international and domestic discussions on the development of climate change policy. Some of our staff, as senior government officials, were deeply involved in the international climate change negotiations on the Kyoto Protocol that authorized the mechanisms to create offsets.  Natsource executives participated in the development of many of the trading systems that created emissions markets. They have served in the legislative and executive branches of the federal government and have written extensively on the greenhouse gas market, the economic and environmental impacts of trading system design, and the role of technology in addressing climate change. This experience puts us in a position to provide clients with unparalleled insight into how alternative policies will affect their business.

U.S. Conventional Air Pollutants

Our policy, regulatory and market experts have helped clients anticipate the impacts that new rules and legislation may have on the market.  Natsource staff were directly engaged in the U.S. Clean Air Act debates and regulatory processes that created markets for SO2 and NOx.  Natsource advisors have been involved in both the private sector and as senior government officials in designing and implementing various provisions of the Clean Air Act.
