Jack D. Cogen, President and Chief Executive Officer (New York). Mr. Cogen is the founder of Natsource and has been President and CEO since 1994. Mr. Cogen is responsible for setting Natsource`s strategic direction and overseeing the business. He serves as the Chairman of Natsource Asset Management LLC`s Investment Committee. Mr. Cogen is responsible for developing the Company`s overall trading strategies and for overseeing the identification, structuring, and execution of transactions for carbon offsets and other environmental assets. From 1991 to 1994, Mr. Cogen created and managed the Commodities Group at Euro Brokers Capital Markets, Inc. At Euro Brokers, Mr. Cogen oversaw the creation of the first over-the-counter natural gas swap brokerage desk. Between 1981 and 1990, Mr. Cogen was employed by The Chase Manhattan Bank (National Association) as Global Risk Manager of the Commodity Risk Management Group. Mr. Cogen is the Chairman of the International Emission Trading Association (IETA), which is comprised of over 180 members from the industrial and financial community that have advocated for the use of market mechanisms to address global climate change. He has also been an IETA Board member for many years. Mr. Cogen is a founding officer of the Energy Brokers Association. Mr. Cogen is a regular moderator and speaker at global conferences on the global carbon market and has authored and co-authored a number of studies and reports on the market. In 2004, he was inducted into the Energy Risk Magazine Hall of Fame. Mr. Cogen received a B.A. from Rutgers University in 1977, an M.S. in Mathematics from New York University in 1982 and an M.B.A. from New York University in 1987.
Richard H. Rosenzweig, Chief Operating Officer (Washington, D.C.), is responsible for overseeing Natsource`s ongoing operations and implementing its business strategy. He is a Manager of Natsource LLC and serves on the Executive Committee. Mr. Rosenzweig joined Natsource in 2000 and served as Managing Director of Advisory and Research from that time until 2005. Mr. Rosenzweig established Natsource`s global advisory and research team in 2000, through which he has provided services to private firms, investment funds, governments, and international financial institutions on all aspects of climate change and renewable energy, including risk assessment and management, market entry strategies, trading system design, domestic policy development and international negotiations. Mr. Rosenzweig has extensive experience in all aspects of emissions trading and risk management. Prior to joining Natsource, Mr. Rosenzweig was a principal in the Washington, D.C. law firm of Van Ness Feldman from 1998 to 2000 and was Chief of Staff to the U.S. Secretary of Energy from 1993 to 1996. As Chief of Staff, Mr. Rosenzweig was responsible for the development of global climate change policy. In that role, he participated in the development of the first U.S. Climate Change Action Plan, which included the first carbon offset program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Mr. Rosenzweig has written extensively on the greenhouse gas market, the impacts of trading system design, and the role of technology in addressing climate change. Mr. Rosenzweig received a B.A. from Northeastern University in 1982 and an M.A. in Political Science from American University in 1984.
Alan J. Kirshenbaum, Chief Financial Officer (New York), joined Natsource in August of 2007 and is a member of the Company`s senior leadership team. Mr. Kirshenbaum participates in the development of Natsource`s strategic direction and is also responsible for overseeing Natsource Asset Management LLC`s business and operations. Prior to joining Natsource, Mr. Kirshenbaum was a Managing Director and the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of MainStay Investments, the $35 billion mutual fund business of New York Life Investment Management from 2006 to 2007. From 2003 to 2006, Mr. Kirshenbaum was Chief Financial Officer of Bear Stearns Asset Management, or BSAM, reporting to the CEO of BSAM. From 1999 to 2006, Mr. Kirshenbaum helped to build the asset management business at BSAM from a $10 billion business to a business of over $40 billion. Prior to working at BSAM, Mr. Kirshenbaum worked in public accounting at KPMG from 1996 to 1999 and J.H. Cohn from 1994 to 1996. Mr. Kirshenbaum is a Certified Public Accountant and holds Series 7 and 63 licenses. Mr. Kirshenbaum received a B.S. from Rutgers University in 1994 and an M.B.A. from New York University`s Stern School of Business in 2003.
Andrew S. O`Connor, General Counsel (New York), joined Natsource in 2008, after having represented the Company as outside counsel since its formation in 1994. He is responsible for Natsource`s legal affairs and serves on the Executive Committee. Mr. O`Connor has focused on representing clients in the financial services industry for more than 35 years. He was formerly associated with Shearman & Sterling, Director of Litigation of The Chase Manhattan Bank (National Association) and a partner and principal of two New York boutique law firms. Mr. O`Connor is a graduate of Boston College (A.B. 1970) and Boston University (J.D. 1973) and is admitted to practice in New York and Massachusetts and before several federal courts.
Michael Intrator, Principal Portfolio Manager and Managing Director (New York), is responsible for developing and implementing NAM LLC's strategies. Mr. Intrator is a Manager of Natsource LLC and serves on the Executive Committee. Prior to becoming Principal Portfolio Manager, Mr. Intrator managed Natsource`s global Origination Services for carbon offsets, conventional air pollutants and renewable energy certificates. During this time, he was responsible for overseeing clients` proprietary trading accounts managed by Natsource. Mr. Intrator joined Natsource in the summer of 1998, specializing in arranging allowance transactions of nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide. Before joining Natsource, Mr. Intrator was an analyst at Salomon Inc. from 1995 through 1997 and traded equities for Datek Securities from 1997 to 1998. Mr. Intrator has also served on the Board of the Emissions Marketing Association. Mr. Intrator received a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University`s Graduate School of International and Public Affairs, where he focused on environmental policy and public finance.
